Letter 32
March 25th, 2009 by Margie
Dear Vegetable Husband Customer,
It is a rainy day and our farmers were out in the mud harvesting for us this morning so wash those veggies. Some come complete with a little extra earth. I am hopeful once again to see the Spring veggies begin to emerge. This week we are eating some beautiful spinach from the Scharko Farm as well as Full Moon’s green garlic once again. This will probably be the last time he will harvest this spring garlic. Enjoy it. I certainly did last week. I think the green garlic butter recipe must be added to the website this week.
I would love to hear from some of you if you have done something simple and delicious with your veggies. You are welcome to send me an email and I will share your tips with everyone. There will be a place to do this on the new website (coming soon I promise!).
Last week was the Georgia Organics Conference and some amazing people were in town to give us guidance and support as our community grows. It is very exciting to see such a collaborative movement working so hard so all of us, rich and poor and in between, can access healthy food. Below is your list of goodies for this week:
Arugula
Rainbow chard
Heirloom head of lettuce
Cilantro
Green garlic
Green Onions
Spinach
I hope your food brings a smile to your face this week. I am always happy to see the precious vegetables (and soon fruits) that I am privileged to eat. The wonderful farmers are so proud of the crops that you eat. Well, that’s it for this week. Remember, if you have any questions, feel free to e-mail or call me. I am always happy to talk FOOD!
Namaste,
Margie Thorpe
