Letter 71

December 23rd, 2009 by Margie

Dear Vegetable Husband Customer,

Happy Holidays!!  I hope that regardless of whoever or whatever you choose to celebrate, this food helps in the process.  Is there a holiday that does not attach itself to food?  If so, I am NOT celebrating that one!  I am marching right in to all those wonderful recipes that warm my heart and my tummy for my holiday.  Many of you chose your own veggies for this week from our list of farm fresh goodness.  For those of you that are new or regulars that didn’t get around to customizing your basket, don’t worry; you have a great variety of greens and root veggies to really dress up your holiday table, too.

I will tell you that I have worked really hard this week to make you a nice little treat as a token of my appreciation for you.  Although each item is different and some may be prettier than others, they are all small soaps made with wonderful organic and vegetarian oils, well except for some goat milk (sorry if this throws off my vegan friends!).  Most of all, they are made with warm thoughts and wishes for good health.  Please enjoy and have a wonderful holiday as you nourish yourself.

This week since many of you have different items, your list of goodies is printed on the back of this letter!  Check it out and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

As we head down the road to a new year, I am busy thinking of ways that this service can run in better ways for all of us in 2010.  Please if you have requests for Spring or Summer growing seasons, now is the time to speak up!  I am meeting regularly with our farmers and choosing crops.  I always welcome any feedback.  This season we have had several weeks of broccoli harvests and I hope to have more cabbages available to us in the future.

Since we all have a few varieties of cooking greens, I am adding a wonderful recipe to the website this week for baking your greens up as a nice dish to prepare for a party.  I am always on the hunt for new potluck ideas and this might be just the thing!  Enjoy your last days of 2009 and remember, I am always happy to talk food!

Peace,

Margie Thorpe
