Farm Burger
April 19th, 2010 by Margie
I know that we are all about the veggies but some of you might have noticed that Full Moon farms has been missing from our parade of beautiful food lately. Jason has been busy moving his farm to a new location and constructing a new restaurant in our own backyard. Athens farmer and restauranteur (Farm 255) is opening a casual place for you meat lovers right here in Decatur.

It’s called Farm Burger and the new business will feature burgers made with locally raised grass fed beef. Imagine picking up something quick that still allows you to think about where your food comes from. Even the interiors echo the mission of being sustainable and thinking responsibly as they work hard using re-purposed lumber and other materials to create a simple and warm dining space. Check out the exciting blog counting down to the opening.

i had a farm burger with caramelized onions, arugula and white cheddar cheese – deelish! Cooked beautifully!
Every menu item was very compelling…so compelling that I ate off of everyone else’s plate! I ordered the Vietnamese burger and shared it with my dining partners; it was a hit with everyone at the table. The burger was PERFECTLY prepared: the meat was lean, yet juicy. The bone marrow add-on was superb…weird and wonderful. The entire staff (without exception) was friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about the mission/food. Sustainability is obviously a company priority: the only plastic items I noticed were the water glasses and straws. Farm Burger’s future is bright indeed!
They offer bone marrow as a topping for your burger! Bone Marrow! It was fantastic. The burger was well cooked, juicy and flavorful. The chicken fritters tasted like fried chicken pot pie! Fantastic. I normally do not like sweet potato fries but theirs, dipped in their own dijon honey mustard were the best thing I ate among lots of really good offerings. The staff is passionate and very knowledgeable about local sustainably produced food. I will be eating there often for sure.
BONE MARROW
well I am crossing my fingers that they will open tomorrow or the next day! I am already craving the next visit to Farm Burger! I hope that any of you that try it will log your experience here.
Can I tell you how good the hibiscus cinnamon float was?! Yikes, and soon they will have the stout float. It will be a lot easier to get me to drive to Decatur from now on, that’s for sure!
